On the podcast this week, we’re joined by Head Brewer of Block Three Brewing Company, Kevin Freer. Based in St. Jacobs, ON, Canada, the brewery produce a range of beers including Fickle Mistress – a dry-hopped kettle sour named after their temperamental labelling machine, Lo Gnomo – a smooth, fruity and dry Belgian Tripel brewed with orange zest and coriander – and a range of spontaneously fermented beers stored in wood.
We discuss everything from Canadian licensing laws, fruited beers that explode in cans, coolships and our mutual appreciation of Craig Farraway, homebrewer and host of YouTube channel CraigTube.
And Nick sits in the beer garden of The Raven Inn in Sheffield and shares a bit about what’s coming up on the podcast over the coming weeks.
Since 1870, Crisp Malt has been producing the finest malt at Great Ryburgh in Norfolk. With 5 maltings located in the best barley growing areas in the UK, they produce a wide range of malts and non-malted cereals in 25kg sacks for craft brewers and distillers all over the world.
They still work one of the last remaining floor maltings in England and use it to make their pioneering heritage malts. They also craft roasted and crystal malts of unprecedented consistency on their vertical, all electric tower roasting plant, the only one of its kind in the UK. Check out their website for more information about their range of malts and also their educational blogs and webinars too.
